My oil paintings mainly focus on landscapes. I've always been drawn to the landscape because of the tranquility and beauty of the countryside. It's a subject matter that can be interpreted artistically in many ways. My objective is to paint the landscape in a loose but realistic style. Being a studio artist, I take photographs as a tool to start a painting. The composition is drawn out using pigment, then an underpainting, building layer upon layer of color. Strong color is used as an integral part of how I interpret the lanscape. Through this process the painting becomes complete.
